This is my favorite photo. In late November, 2008 I shot this flying on a small prop plane over the jungles of Belize. I call it "Last Flight Out." After a day of trekking in the jungles of Belize--which featured amazing waterfalls, dense foliage, lots of snakes, and a troop of howler monkeys--my wife and I raced to catch the last flight from the southern end of the country. The local air service runs like a bus: the plane stops at various airports and people get on or off and then follow the route.
This photograph is a self-portrait. It is filled with metaphor and I look at it frequently. I find myself searching--not just visually examining the jungle, but also searching for all this image tells me about life.
